CAROL KING
Carol King is a long time resident , once a teacher at Watauga High School. She also studied Commercial Design at ASU.“I started learning Pottery under Bob Meier at Doe Ridge Pottery around 2001. Before that I considered myself an artist of two dimensional works. I became more earnest in my desire to develop my own style in ceramics in 2010. I have explored and developed techniques of glazing that include, hand painting, waxing and etching the surface. By doing these I am able to allow the colors and texture of the glazes and the beauty of the clay to be highlighted.I am also creating designs for wall mirrors used in interior decorating. These are made up of a tiled frame made of ceramics which use all of the above plus relief and texturing. My primary interest has been to feature the local flora. My goal is to bring the beauty of ceramics into our homes."
